One option would be to put a small black or white icon next to the player name on the player panel. It's good enough, I suppose that Red is always Black, but I find it a bit hard to remember.

Also, when viewing a game that I am not playing, it can be hard to see which side is which. It seems as though the player on move is on the left, but if you reload the page, it can cause the board to rotate.....
