I had similar issue, MAJOR delays when accessing via Safari v.13.1.1

30-60 second lags between my turn starting and being able to click, then another lag between my click and registering it. kept seeing status in BGA indicating I was connected again, which implies I was having issues with BGA server -- but never had any loss of internet, as other actions were uninterrupted.

No issues with any other games on BGA, i have a 1 Gigabit internet connection so issue is solely with Carcosonne -- unplayable until this is resolved.

Almost impossibly slow. A game that previously would have been less than an hour took over two hours.
Love the new expansion but too slow.
Interestingly I was the only player with a problem - also I was only player using Safari?

Same experience. Impossibly slow. Mostly playing via Safari on iPhone and iPad. Can barely play this game anymore. Problem since update. So slow to load, slow to send moves to server.

The latency on iPad safari (unsure version at moment) makes the game impossible and is massively impacting my otherwise almost perfect kudos.
Definitely problems after update to graphics and/or fairies addition.

Voting for this issue. It became impossible to play this game after it’s update. It doesn’t matter what device (iPad, iPhone, PC) or what browser(Safari, Chrome) I use, I can’t choose and place my tyles on board fast, I need to wait years. Because of this latency I lose my karma, as other players exclude me from the game.

I'm having the same very significant speed problems on Safari 13.1.2, on macOS (but using Chrome seems fine). It is impossible to drag the map around, as it takes literally seconds for the screen to update.

I can't tell where the time is being spent. Safari's performance tools suggest that it is not in the main thread:

I wondered whether the time might be going into the onMouseMove handler of ebg.scrollmap, but this doesn't seem to be the case (method: set a breakpoint on the beginning and end of the function, edit the breakpoints to add a Log Message action with messages such as "onMouseMove begin, ${Date.now()}" and then automatically continue after evaluating. Then, dragging the map in the main window will show when this function is called. What I see here is that no call takes more than 2ms to complete, but you might get a sequence of several calls within a few ms of each other - then a 5 second gap - and then another several calls separated by a few ms).

Playing on an ipad with newest chrome browser.

Game slows gradually through out play and then freezes altogether about halfway through. Even the spinning hourglass freezes, and often hitting refresh doesn't do anything.

Switch to android (chrome) and it is a bit faster, but now has trouble skipping player turns. I imagine the other players are missing turns due to similar issues. Unfortunately as is I have been unable to finish a game, even when the players chose to skip the other's turns.

And then for some reason I lose karma? It says that I didn't complete the game, even after the pop up said I could quit with no penalty?

I have been having the same severe latency when playing carcassone ever since the update. I run on Catalina OS X on a mac mini and just upgraded to a SSD 1 TB just to try and fix this and it was no help. Every time I try and play I get kicked out now - my tile placement lags and my maple placement lags. Its horrible. I haven't been able to finish a game.

I have this problem on my iPad, it goes away if I use original tile artwork unless I'm playing the princess and dragon expansion, which is basically unplayable. Like many of the comments above it keeps telling me that I am connected again even though there's no issue with my wifi.

Please fox this - I can't play anymore!! As the game proceeds the slower I'm able to move until I'm kicked out. Its happened to me many times since the game change. Now I just dont play anymore. I keep checking back to this bug report to see if anyone is working on it but it seems no-one is. :(

I don't know if this is actually the cause of the slowdown, but I was surprised to see the explicit background-image style in every element in places_container. Normally that would be in a css class instead:

The html for every tile seems to be very complicated, as well. I can't remember all of what was there before, but with the fire and the chevrons and the dragon overlay text and the meeple placing spots - this seems a lot to be always present and almost never displayed. Is it possible that performance would be better of some of this were only created on-demand?

Twice or thrice it happened to me that Carcassonne game got stuck. Once I tried it on my IOS device. OS is 13.6. I got Karma penalty for none of my faults. I am usually a fas player. There seems a bug in the game or something. Refreshing didn’t solve anything. I made me lose more time instead. I don’t have a screenshot now but I’ll definitely take it if it happens again.

game is unplayable at least on MacOS. I tried several times hopping it will get better but it didn't. I won't be playing it again bc it freezes all the time and I don't have good overview of the game, I lose time and I got kicked out and penalised for it.

Le jeu est devenu injouable depuis la nouvelle version - (je joue sur un mac via Safari). Au départ tout va bien, puis plus le jeu progresse, plus il y a de tuiles sur le plateau, de possibilités à calculer, et plus l'interface ralentit et se buggue. C'est la dernière fois aujourd'hui que je joue à Carcassonne sur BGA. Je pense que BGA est tout à fait au courant du problème - les réactions ont été très fortes à la sortie de la mise à jour (il y a plusieurs mois). Maintenant allez-vous faire quelque chose pour le résoudre?

Almost every time use fairy or princess tiles the game locks up and have toto reload. This happens every single time I play! And to my opponents -have tried different browsers -ends up taking twice as long to play as always waiting but I love the new dragon format. Also an issue as players end up getting kicked out and a poor rating when it isn't their fault.

I understand you can't go in and adjust my Karma, but I lost Karma the week before when I lost electricity. Then this.

Something is seriously wrong with your servers. So much for a premium account providing benefit.

Four of us never finished a Carcassonne game that should have taken an hour and took 3. Horrible latency, constantly disconnected from servers - this while playing on a brand new Mac with 300mb/s download - 50 mbps upload.

The whole time the server status in a different browser window kept showing normal, while single moves were taking 2-3 minutes to update.

Seems to be limited to this game, and was significantly worse on the Host account (mine), than my guest players.

Awful lagging on iPhone XR with latest ios and lat St version of chrome browser. Every aspect of the interface (Inc chat etc) is slow when playing this game, not on any others.

Time pass and the game no answer. Always happen, no matter the extension or game mode. It happen since a few days. I have been pulled out many times because of this and my karma is a mess.

Même problème de durée d'attente pour un joueur sur la table (sur 4 joueurs).
Temps de réaction très longue entre une action et l'apparition sur l'écran de ce joueur. Obligé d'attendre parfois plusieurs minutes pour qu'il puisse jouer, surtout vers la fin de la partie.

same problem encountered several times, high latency and my page froze, browser Chrome, I was unnable to finish seveeral games and because of that my reputation is really low :( the page froze 4 timers in the last week, and that had HUGE impact on my reputation %.

On a mobile phone: the BGA app kept closing and "loading art" once and again. As soon as the table appeared, the "loading art" appeared again, at least 4 or 5 times in a row, making it impossible to play on time.

I was playing with 4 people, to remote on the same up address, and 2 local. Noticed my CPUs were spinning wildly (using lots of CPU resources) and the browser keep putting up warnings about performance being slow and suggesting closing the browser an restarting.

I was running on a new MacBook Air M1 processor with tHe latest iOS. My wife had similar issues on a new iPad Pro running the latest IOS.

I saw similar behavior (actually much worse) running Potion Explosion.

Playing a large tile game of all expansions but no rules. Game started off well but now loads slowly and there is a big delay in trying to scroll around the tiles using Safari on 2020 Macbook Air. I was playing 3 player, it was telling me another player must place a tile. He seemed to be taking a bit long, but not crazy long. Next thing I know my turns are being skipped (because I was winning so the other player took a cheap shot). I didn't even know that it was my turn to place a tile--the interface was telling me it was the other person's turn. So it was just a bug or lag. Considering issues like these, the timers should be much much higher for real time Carcassone. You've labeled them "Real time fast, Real time Normal, and Real time slow" but if you compared even for a second to how people play Carcassonne on a tabletop, the reality is "Real time absurdly fast, Real time fast, Real time Normal". Timers on all three modes should be about 50-100% longer. This would be the case even if we ignored bugs and lags for sake of debate. Sure, probably some tryhards who gain rank by skipping people's turns when they go in the red will disagree with me, but remember people are very suggestible. Label something "Real time slow" and they'll think of it as "slow" even if it's undeniably like 5 times faster than how people ever play on a tabletop.

This seems to still be a problem. My last two games became less and less responsive for each tile added to the board. Yesterday on my iPad, tonight on my Mac. (might be safari related?). Bandwidt above 150mbps so that should not be the issue.

I have problems each times I play Carcassonne, and only this game... high latency, several seconds or minutes between the click and the reaction of the game. I coudn't move the map either. Finally the computer could not answer anymore and I was expulsed from the party long time before knowing it. No problems with other games. My laptop is Mac with McOS high Sierra. I use Safari... is it the problem...?

Same issues with Innes and cathedrals: the game starts fine with few tiles and in the end it take at least 10 seconds to have visual feedback of ANY action (scrolling, zooming, placing tiles, anything).

i have the same problem; at the beginning of the game no problem; later on I can not place any tile and even the map is not visible anymore; also closing the browser (Safari) does not help; when I restart, the game is lost :-(

Same for me. No problem in other games and the network is fine. I need to refresh the page a lot of times during the game to be able to move. Some times it takes a minute to continue the game. Tried at to different windows computers. Two different internet connections, three different browsers, but same error. I activate the game. The other players have no problems.

Concéder la victoire n'a pas supprimé la table de mon interface, rendant le bouton "next table" inutilisable (parce qu'il lance un écran de chargement interminable).

Table #193539192 had good connection, was waiting for another player then I refresh the screen to find out I've been timed out and booted from the game. Issue with YOUR platform NOT my connection. I get a penalty on Karma and ranking points and then I get the passive aggressive report that I have to confirm that I 'got it'. Fix the technical issues and stop blaming and penalising players (your customers). Please confirm you 'got it?'

I enjoy playing this game but cannot get connected to real-time play. The screen freezes during the upload and I get booted off, several times now. F5 doesn't work. I try getting in through the main menu, signing in/off, and it freezes about 92% upload regardless of my efforts to reconnect and/or wait for the game to start. I use Chrome.

Impossible de jouer car je ne vois tout simplement pas les cartes, apparait seulement les emplacements possible en gris et c'est tout.
J'ai essayé 2 parties et les 2 fois c'était pareil. J'ai fais plusieurs fois F5, rien ne change.

J'avais placé une tuile en attente de mon tour. Le joueur me précédant à placer sa tuile à côté de celle que je prévoyais de mettre. Les deux tuiles n'étaient pas compatibles et le jeu a buggué...impossible d'enlever ma tuile prévue pour en changer, F5 n'a pas marché. J'ai été exclue du jeu et reçu des points de pénalités !

I've been facing the same problem, have also reported it on here (twice, already), but apparently nobody is doing anything. It's become IMPOSSIBLE to play my favourite game on here, which is even more painful as a subscriber to the site (I thought I was contributing to something, but that 'something' never comes). The only way to play Carcassonne on BGA seems to be on a mobile phone... which, of course, destroys the game experience as it's too hard to navigate through such a small display and I'll eventually lose at a much higher ration than on a browser screen.

Will anyone ever see to this?

J’ai bien essayer de rafraîchir la page plusieurs fois mais je reste toujours décaler aux autres joueurs. Dommage car j’adore ce jeu!!

Загрузка игрового стола достигала 92 процентов и далее останавливалась, я не могла войти в игровой стол.
Смена браузера и обновление страницы не помогли.
В итоге меня исключили из 2х игр подряд из-за этой ошибки и я получила штраф.

Table 407674400 - played with 2 other players on a mobile phone, the connection was OK, during my last move the game froze, refreshing the site didn't help. I was trying to place the tile but nothing was happening. Then I ran out of time and was punished for not playing.

Game is so slow it makes it impossible and frustrating to play. Every single move and action has a ridiculous amount of lag.
It's also the only game on here that I have had this experience with.

Not had issues with this but have had major issues with Ticket to Ride.

In almost all cases the "are you connected to the internet?" message pops up multiple times. We are connected to the internet over a fibre-optic connection, and it still works for every other site.

So that's where the developers should be looking for the source of this problem.

Had one player this eveing unable to load the site at all, also over fibre-optic (despite having loaded it fine for an earlier game). The animated cloud kept animating forever (several minutes), even after restarting the browser and a cache clearance.

In the end, we gave up, as we have had to do numerous times.

The whole ecosystem seems a bit flaky thier end.

In that case there is a workaround. Your browser may have stupidly cached that the game art failed to load, so upon refresh not bothered to attempt to load it again.

Clear the browser cache: Ctrl + Shift + Delete. Make sure you only select Cache, otherwise you may lose your internet history or saved passwords. Then refresh.

Of course, the game art should have loaded. I suspect there are some time-out settings within the BGA web app that are far too short, and result in catastrophic failure. It would be good if BGA tested against older devices and slower connections to find these weak points.

I am having this problem right now.
This isn't happening in some other games but playing Carcassonne is being barely impossible today.
Pressing refresh / hard refresh didn't solve it.

I played with chrome and with edge and both games are really slow: unplayeble. My clock is running, and I made a move but the server says to wait. I can't play this game anymore, because it's now for a month a problem.

Same! Major delays affecting especially Carcassonne, but I noticed also Wingspan extremely slowed down.
I play on Chrome.

When I play on the tabled (Ipad) I don't have this issue! So perhaps related only to web version and not mobile ones?

Durant ma partie de Ticket to ride le serveur à cessé de réagir ; j’ai rechargé plusieurs fois la page et obtenu une page blanche ainsi qu’un message étrange ; je n’ai pas eu la présence d’esprit de faire une copie d’écran. Ma connexion était bonne, j’ai navigué sur d’autres sites. En rechargeant la page d’accueil j’ai vu dans le chat global que de nombreux joueurs éprouvaient des difficultés
La page de l’état du serveur a indiqué un dysfonctionnement peu après
Il y a ensuite eu un message indiquant qu’on ne perdrait pas de point de réputation mais aujourd’hui j’apprends qu’aucun problème n’a été relevé. Tant pis mais je m’estime lésé d’autant que la partie interrompue était très plaisante
BGA est victime de son succès, c’est une consolation

The page had frozen. The window became totally blanc. F5 or any other action did not fix nothing. The Console (F12) was totally empty, too. I could not do anything but wait, but nothing changed.

Latence de 10 secondes depuis une semaine. Entre le clic et la réaction. + parfois imprécision du clic. Valable sur 3 tables en cours de TM.
J utilise Android sur Galaxy 40, tout allait bien avant.
